Based in Labastida, Bodegas Exeo is a family winery dedicated to recuperating some of the best vineyard sites of Rioja Alavesa. They own 24ha of vines, a few more than 100 years old. This Garnacha comes from two vineyards growing in clay soils on the slopes of the Sierra de Toloño. To maintain the character and minerality of the zone, the wine is fermented and aged on its lees for 12 months in concrete egg-shaped tanks. Beth Willard: Very herbal, with rosemary and a little mint. Lots of wild strawberry and red cherry with a seductively smooth palate. A really good interpretation from the cooler zones of Rioja. Valentin Radosav:Ripe red fruit with floral and sweet spice aromas, elegant. Round and juicy tannins, lovely stony earth minerality adding a complex layer to the finish. Diana Rollan: Intense, perfumed nose: cherry, violets, sandalwood. Big and bold with drying polished tannins and a savoury finish.
