Spain

A wine with an alluring rusticity and great sense of place – it’s as if you're walking the hills of Utiel-Requena, stepping on fragrant rockrose and thyme over mulberry and greengage fruit. It hails from organically farmed vineyards, more than 90 years old, and is spontaneously fermented in stone lagares before ageing for 12 months in French oak barriques. It has an approachable freshness with the chiseled, mineral tannins and the intense spicy rim of cardamom, nutmeg and black pepper giving it both structure and vividness. A cheeky twist of blood orange and pink grapefruit gives it further energy. At only 12.7% abv, this is dangerously drinkable without compromising on nuance and length.
