Kicking off a range of four very different English Pinot Noirs, the Gatehouse is the most characterful and bold of the bunch. The fruit is dark and bittersweet, the tannins are chalky and structured, the flavours tip into leather, game and meat. I can’t deny I have an issue with the price, but given that only 900 bottles were made I doubt it will be difficult to sell and I’ve a feeling nobody is going to be disappointed on tasting it.
