Lifted with estery, candied red fruit, a touch of herbal lift, and a little gamey thunder. There's good weight without being extracted – and it's a little savoury too. I'm really excited about this winery in Norfolk. Not only because I have family connections in the region, but because the wines I've tried so far have been serious and quite refined, with concentration (often lacking in still English wines), depth and balance without overuse of oak. This very light red could, I suppose, be a take on a clarete – or at least that's what it seems most like to me.
