Harrow & Hope is a name that tends to fly under the radar, but Henry and Kaye Laithwaite have been making terrific sparkling wines from their south-facing Chiltern Hills site for more than a decade now, achieving organic certification in 2023. This iteration of their Brut Reserve is based on the challenging 2021 vintage, with 30% from a perpetual reserve that’s held in oak. A blend of 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir with 25% Meunier, it spends a minimum of 32 months on lees and has a residual sugar of 10.4g/L. Susie Barrie MW: Gold/green. Generous creamy aromas, hedonistic. Cream and spice with lovely orchard fruit. Fine, persistent mousse, good length. Matt Hodgson: Fresh and bright with floral notes and a lovely creaminess. Light and elegant, but with intensity – very drinkable. Dror Nativ MW: Finely crafted, with aromas of fresh brioche and a layered palate with notes of clementine and ripe orchard fruit. A persistent, effervescent finish.
