Wisps of toasted bread and warm, freshly baked pastry emerge from the glass, with ripe pear and Bramley apple fruit for support. The palate balances creamy, nutty, apple strudel richness with pure, tangy lemon zest. Wow. The acidity soars, but it's kept in check by that toasty richness and a sweet succulent lemon jelly and wet stone lick. Elegant bubbles create a lattice texture in the mouth. It's at a gorgeous stage now and can be enjoyed with gusto, but it's also very youthful still and is sure to develop more complexity and reach its full potential with time. I'd be proud to bring this to a dinner table to show how great English wine can be.
