One of the better wines I have tasted from the 2022 vintage, which was a vintage where temperatures soared in the latter part of harvest. But here, the wine is savoury, dark-fruited, with cool tobacco and sagebrush notes. The fruit is not overripe; it's perfectly ripe and bears the taste of a cooler vintage. On the palate, the wine is wonderfully textural, with satiny fruit and grippy apple-skin tannins, building through the full-bodied finish. It's a wonderful Cabernet from a tough vintage, and one any Napa Cab lover would be proud to pour and offer friends and family. From Vintner Jack Bittner and partner winemaker Graeme Macdonald. Following the repeal of prohibition in 1933, Carmine Martignetti was granted retail license number 001 for the Martignetti grocery company in Boston's North End. This label pays homage to Martignetti. Vines up at Ecotone are 36 years old as of this harvest, in the hills above the Meadwood Resort in St. Helena, California.
