Snowden is beautifully located on volcanic slopes overlooking St Helena. The Ranch is in effect the second wine, but includes grapes that were formerly blended into the Reserve bottling. It's fermented with natural yeasts and aged in 50% new oak.The nose is full-throttle, with intense blackcurrant aromas. The palate is broad and plump, a bit grippy now, but balanced by good acidity and a spicy fruitiness. The finish is long and peppery, and as there is less extraction than in the flagship Brothers Vineyard Cabernet, it is more immediate drinkable - but will also age well.
