Garnet in the glass with pink rose on the rim, this red explodes with notes of black licorice, blackberry, plum, prune, crushed rocks, oregano, and chili pepper flakes. An inviting, light entrance evolves to a mid-density palate with lingering tannins, good minerality, and touches of red cherry, strawberry, red candy, and red apple skin. Aged 16 months in older French oak barrels, total production is 1,820 cases from fruit sourced primarily from Eagle’s Nest in Napa and Upstream in Coombsville.
