Natural Cork

Sourced from a single block at Hudson Vineyards in the Carneros AVA, this wine comes from Cabernet Franc vines planted on a volcanic outcropping in 1986 and adjacent Merlot planted the same year in clay-loam soils. The blend is 70% Cabernet Franc and 30% Merlot, co-harvested and co-fermented, and aged for 20 months in French oak barrels (80% new). Production was just 277 cases. The wine is ultra-dark fruited, with wonderful tobacco and sagebrush notes alongside salted dark chocolate and luscious dark berry fruit flavours. Ultra-fine tannins are nicely integrated, offering ample heft at this stage, with the wine finishing with rich loamy earth and violet notes.
