Natural Cork

A blend of 84% Merlot and 16% Cabernet Franc, from 35-year-old vines planted in the G, H, and I Blocks of the Hudson Vineyard in Carneros. Quite a lovely, perfumed, and elegant Merlot with an incredible base of powerful tannic structure. There’s acidity here from the cool nights on the Hudson Ranch, and lifted sagebrush notes and wild herb character, with fennel notes on a full-bodied, elegant palate. The wine reminds Fritz Hatton of tasting very young Bordeaux wines, like a young wine from a substantial producer from Saint-Émilion; and, well, it is wonderfully structured and fragrant. Aged 20 months in French oak barrels, 57% new.
