This is evocative of a light-bodied Grenache, with great fruit and spice. Dried strawberries, wild mint and sweet clove on the nose. The palate shows fresh red and blue fruits. Wild mint leaves, crushed slate and briny saline freshness finish a wine that no one would peg as Zinfandel when tasted blind. A wildly unconventional Zinfandel, but from Arnot Roberts, you’d expect nothing less. The vines were planted in 1915 on their own roots.
