Evocative of wines from a different era, the Arnot-Roberts California red blend is the second vintage of this wine, with 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc. It combines Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Bedrock Vineyard in the Sonoma Valley. The bulk of the Cabernet Franc is from the Persia Vineyard, located in an isolated valley in the Chalk Hill appellation and finished off with small parts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot from the Las Cimas Vineyard, in the coastal hills overlooking the Russian River Valley. The wine comes off as bright and airy. Fresh red berries, crushed stone and violet aromatics are followed on the palate by bright red and blue fruits, a savoury streak of fresh herbs and a delicious lift of acidity and minerality. While not crafted for complexity, it offers a big bang for the buck.
