Classic chaparral, dried floral notes and ripe raspberry lead on the nose, while minerality gives this Pinot Noir unique character, with briny, chalky notes and lean acidity providing balance and structure. La Encantada Vineyard is a newer site for Au Bon Climat, though the prestigious Sta. Rita Hills vineyard has a much longer history. Located on Santa Rosa Road in the cool western part of the appellation, about seven miles from the Pacific Ocean, the vineyard was planted by Richard Sanford in 2000 and is organically farmed.
