This beautiful wine from AXR is a blend of some of Napa's most iconic vineyards, including Sleeping Lady in Yountville, Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard and Harbison Vineyard in Oakville (which abuts Screaming Eagle), Denali near Joseph Phelps, and V. Madrone Vineyard in St Helena, along with Bennett in Calistoga. The wine is entirely barrel-fermented and aged for 24 months in 100% new French oak. In 2023, it is positively polished, showing suave, seamless textures and ripe black- and blue-fruited depth. A savoury, saline mineral thread runs throughout, while pixelated tannins build density and middle-palate power. It possesses a nervy energy to balance out the richness and fruit depth.
