From the Pocai Vineyard in Calistoga comes this blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1.5% Petit Verdot, 0.5% Malbec, and 0.5% Cabernet Franc, aged for 22 months in 75% new French oak. The 2022 vintage delivers a more opulent style than in the past, with heady notes of toasty oak and mocha, complemented by black-toned fruit, strawberry fruit leather, and tobacco. Full-bodied on the palate, it features very pliant, elongated tannins and a medley of intensely flavourful, succulent, almost brambly blackberry and black cherry fruit. The wine finishes long with sweet spices. Despite its ripe fruit intensity, it achieves excellent balance from the drying tannins.
