Another great wine from another historic Sonoma vineyard, the Zinfandel from Monte Rosso (first planted in the 1880s) is just fantastic. The volcanic red soils and the high elevation of over 100 feet above sea level here give the 2023 vintage its signature intensity, with deep colour, firm structure, and an unmistakable mineral edge. The nose opens with ripe plums, dark berries, and a touch of orange pith, unfolding into warm spices. On the palate, the wine is concentrated yet balanced, showing a hint of iron and herbal freshness framed by fine-grained tannins. A powerful, deeply rooted expression of the site.
