Grapes are sourced from Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard in Rutherford, marking winemaker Maayan Koschitzky’s 11th vintage with his first solo clients, John and Stacy Rheinert. This expression is more textural than the Napa Valley bottling, yet equally dazzling, defined by a refined Rutherford-dust tannic backbone layered with cigar box and cedarwood, while dark salted chocolate frames ripe, powerful black cherry and crème de cassis fruit. A pulverised graphite minerality threads throughout, lending clarity and precision to the generous fruit and tannin structure. Utterly delicious in 2023 and remarkably easy to enjoy, it also carries a sense of finality: this wine was crafted from older GIII vines that were removed following this vintage, making it the last release from those specific plantings. New vines will come online in the coming years, with fruit sourced from other blocks in the interim.
