Mencía, native to northwestern Spain and Portugal, is known for its vibrant acidity, savoury character, and aromatic depth. This 100% Mencía from San Benito County offers a California expression, with purple fruits, plum and blackberry layered with savoury meatiness reminiscent of a dry salami log and bundles of dried herbs. The palate carries an earthy, grounded character forward, supported by medium tannins and good acidity. Super juicy on the back palate, it begs for food, such as paella or dishes scented with paprika and saffron.
