These are two clones of Gamay from the upper, rockier section of the Escolle estate site; they were grafted over from Pinot Noir in both 2020 and 2021. It’s made in three lots: one with full carbonic, 100% whole; one with half carbonic, 50% whole; and 50% of the punched-down fruit. So beguiling on the nose, floral elegance paired with sauvage with serious granitic minerality and beautifully floral. It’s a wonderful Gamay Noir, such serious red and blue fruits and so, so savoury. It has a real body and gravitas, making this Gamay feel like a Cru Beaujolais.
