From the winery’s estate vineyard, where vines are rooted in decomposed granite soils at 762 metres in El Dorado County in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, this wine is a nod to Côte-Rôtie, with some co-fermentation of Viognier. I love the energy of this wine. It’s not too heavy or brooding—rather, it’s light on its feet with an elegant intensity. Fine-grained tannins are complemented by red berry fruit, ironstone minerality, white pepper spice, and notes of dried rose petals, finishing long with a salty, mineral edge.
