Bright, long, lean, fresh, and nuanced. Terrifically inviting aromas of sea spray, lemon cream, apricot, white peach and a hint of seagrass. It is so fresh and inviting on the palate with its light to medium-bodied expression of tart citrus fruit with a real depth of almost oven-baked lemon, finishing with a long line of saline minerals and bright white orchard floral notes. It is charming and inviting and such a great wine to enjoy over a long meal. Picked before the heat events of 2022. Chenin Blanc vines are planted above and below the Chappellet house on the property, and in all there are 1.2 ha, which are picked in one day, pressed and fermented. Half stainless fermented and half in two-year-old seasoned Chardonnay barrels. It's the same method employed by Chappellet's first winemaker, Philip Togni. 'After some years of experimentation, we felt the old recipe is the best way, and we love it,' says Phillip Corallo-Titus. 'It's simple and purely vineyard-driven.' Another acre of Chenin grapes will come online, perhaps in 2024, near Dominic's house on the estate.
