This 2019 is a fantastic follow-up to the 2018 that I tasted in August 2024. This long-established Napa Valley brand is now under the direction of consultant winemaker Julien Fayard, and the 2019 vintage is a touch riper and bolder, revealing a wine that feels utterly timeless — a classic Napa Cabernet bursting with blackberry and cassis, intermixed with tobacco, loamy earth, graphite and dark chocolate, all framed by velvety tannins. Toasty oak and vanilla bean round out the full-bodied finish. It is thoroughly enjoyable now and will drink beautifully over the next five to seven years.
