A wonderfully structured, energetic, crunchy red-fruited Cabernet with black fruit understones. Gravelly tannins form a solid mineral-laced foundation for this medium to full-bodied red, which finishes with cedar-spice and sagebrush accents. Clone 7 Vineyard, known as 'Cardiac Hill' to the winery staff, is the northern-most hillside on the estate and was planted in 1995. It is a steep slope with three different spacings with VSP-trained vines. The soils are shallow at the top of the hill and deeper at the base, which explains the choice of different spacings. This site is slightly rocky, well-drained, and is one of the warmest spots on the property.
