The 2021 release marks the second vintage of Cliff Lede's Crossfade red, blending 49% Cabernet Franc and 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 2% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot (all aged 21 months in oak). The bright and lifted fruit aromatics and sweet tobacco spices pull you in immediately, and the wine has a natural polish to it, with broad-shouldered tannins and a wonderful freshness. The medium-bodied palate feel is supported by incredibly juicy, focused acidity, with a lean but ripe fruit profile showcasing elegant pomegranate, juicy cherry, and plum. A refreshing and lifted finish of river stone minerality layers in complexity. True to its namesake, the blending feels seamless, and the result is a lovely wine.
