The second wine made at Cobb and, like the 2001, it comes from what is now called the 'Diane Cobb' block. It spent 15 months in French oak, 50% new, and 202 cases were produced. Bursting from the glass, this is a more savoury and energetic expression of Coastlands, with aromas of pine sap and oiled leather followed by flavours of pomegranate and rhubarb. Ross Cobb explained that this wine was somewhat 'bretty' in its youth, the remnants of which were subtly apparent but not at all off-putting. Poured from magnum.
