The 2019 Conn Creek Howell Mountain Cabernet is opaque ruby in the glass, giving way to a powerful mountain wine oozing with violet, creme de menthe, and kirsch framed by toasted cedarwood notes. More of the same qualities make appearances on the full-bodied palate, supported by beams of chocolaty tannins, accompanied by scorched earth notes, and potpourri on the extended finish. It's so robust and heady with such intensity of flavours and aromas at this stage that it could use another 2-3 years in the cellar. Be patient, and you will be rewarded. Founded in 1973, Conn Creek winery is situated on the eastern side of Napa Valley, just off the Silverado Trail. Best known for its Bordeaux-styled wines, Elizabeth DeLouise-Gant has been winemaker since 2017. Previously, she worked at Beaulieu Vineyard, Tamber Bey, and Stag's Leap Wine Cellars.
