A single vineyard expression of Pinot Noir from Escolle Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA in Monterey County. Compact aromas of Red Delicious apple skin, black cherry, and molasses frame the nose. The concentration of dark berry fruit gives real depth to the mid-palate and layers in a real sweetness that carries through on the tannins, which are cedar-like, pliant and build through the saline mineral finish marked by scorched wild herbs and brandied Morello cherries. Such an enticing and brooding Pinot. Aged 17 months in 30% new French oak. Bottled, unfined, and unfiltered. 133 cases produced.
