Founded by Gary and Sharon Lessing, CourAvant is a small, family-owned estate in St Helena that produced its debut vintage in 2019. Today, the wines are made by Sally Johnson Blum. The 2024 Blanc is a Bordeaux-inspired white that blends 54% Pope Valley Sauvignon Blanc and 46% Calistoga Semillon. The ageing for 14 months in neutral oak represents a restrained maturation choice intended to build texture without introducing the pronounced influence of new barrels. Jonathan Cristaldi: Vivid, lifted, with pure lemon and yellow apple fruit notes, ripe apricot and underripe peach. A saline thread runs through, balanced by subtle phenolic grip and lovely lingering fruit. Jenica Flippo: A blend that’s all about texture. Apple, peach, Meyer lemon and white florals glide into a gently waxy finish that keeps you coming back for more. Cara Patricia: Reminiscent of a Graves blanc on the nose; white pear and mandarin orange pith, light sea spray and chervil, beeswax and magnolia. Very pleasurable.
