The 2020 Crosby's Reserve comes from the Harmony School Vineyard in Coombsville. The grapes were destemmed to French oak barrels and then fermented in barrels for 56 days, then aged in new French oak for 20 months. Intriguing earthy aromas take centre stage in this medium-bodied wine, ceding to bright red-toned berry fruits, and dried rose petals. The elegant aromas set the stage for a pretty wine with a robust tannin structure, plenty of grip, and compact redberry fruits. The wine is youthfully reticent and will hopefully open up with some time from Juliana and Sean McBride, who debuted their label in 2006 while still living in an apartment in Brooklyn, New York. Today, they produce their wines from a warehouse space in the Crusher District of Napa Valley. One to watch.
