The Ditch Digger Concrete is a red blend of 33% Grenache, 32% Mourvedre, 22% Syrah, 5% Cinsault, 4% Counoise, 3% Tannat, and 2% Carignan aged exclusively in concrete. At 14.6 % alcohol, it is balanced and offers a tremendous expression of the dark-berry fruit spectrum that the warm Paso Robles sun provides. These sites are in the western reaches of Paso, where the weather is a bit cooler. Still, the fruit concentration is immense here and, without the presence of oak, is riveting and pure with layers of black, red, and blue-toned fruits that are soft and silken on the medium to full-bodied palate with a satiny bed of fine tannins that are long and interconnected and hold the mid-palate with excellent weight through the long savoury-spiced finish: a tremendous effort and a real show-stopper for Paso Robles red blends.
