The 2018 Le Rêve is really beautiful. It shows a seamless expression of this tête de cuvée, with a wonderfully rich palate that lingers with a kind of lemon-oil slickness long after the racy, creamy, bright, frothy mousse and tension-driven acidity have washed away. There are notes of lemon and lime, crisp orchard and stone fruit character, along with lovely nougat and French pastry notes. The mousse is softer and more generous than the 2017, which was more assertive, while the saline acidity and mineral tension carry through atop that slick lemon-oil richness. Great energy, drive, and tension are balanced by generosity and elegance. A dosage of 8g/L, crafted using the méthode traditionnelle, with a minimum of six years ageing en tirage.
