The Famous Gate vineyard is a historic site for this winery and is part of the brand's DNA. Over the years, it has been leveraged for blends and single-designated wines. The predominant planting is the Swan clone, which is really shy, baring meager yields with some planted on the east and west side of the winery and another block farther west into the Sonoma side of Carneros. Elegant and alluring spiced red berry fruits that have a bright candied ripeness along with nuances of tangerine peel and smoky clove, with plush, creamy, strawberry and bing cherry fruit, and loads of brown sugar dusted cedarwood that is so enticing and ups the delicious factor of this wine. The finish is extremely long with more brown spices, crushed stone minerals, dried florals, and a baseline of zesty, citrusy acid tension.
