The Donelans have sourced Viognier from the Kobler Family Vineyard since 2001. Native fermentation and native malolactic fermentation are followed by 11 months of ageing in neutral French oak barrels. In 2022, this Viognier shows a surprising subtlety, which winemaker David Milner attributes to particularly gentle pressing. Bright and fragrant, the wine opens with sea-spray aromatics, lifted by lemon and lime zest, a pop of white floral notes and subtle baking spice. The palate delivers terrific mid-palate richness—more pronounced than in previous vintages—layered with tangerine oil, apricot and white peach, all driving a long, saline finish. This is unquestionably a wine for the table: Dover sole or roast chicken with potatoes would be spot on.
