From a 32-hectare estate where vines are planted at approximately 732 metres, this Zinfandel was barrel-aged for 21 months in a mix of new French and American oak, about one-third of it new, and blended with Petite Sirah. The result is a complex, full-bodied, and bold Zinfandel-based blend with powerful high-mountain tannins and a panoply of wild herbs interlaced with dried strawberry fruit, chewy dark cherry wrapped in milk chocolate, and a firm spine of dusty mineral tension that carries through the lengthy finish. A standout red from the El Dorado AVA.
