A tiny production from just eight rows of this unusual variety in Sonoma, Savagnin is the grape for Vin Jaune in the Jura region. Ehren grafted it onto existing vines at his Olivet Ranch as an experiment, essentially a passion project, as he puts it. Made very simply, with neutral oak, no malolactic fermentation, and bottled young after a short élevage, not oxidative. Bright and saline, with lime and lemon citrusy freshness, a touch of sweet white florals, and a slightly creamy, nutty texture that adds just a nice layer of depth to the wine.
