The Stagecoach Road is the most powerful Pinot Noir in the Fort Ross Vineyard 2023 lineup. The fruit comes from two adjacent blocks on the lower section of the estate, beneath the fog layer and in the closest section to the ocean, just about a mile away. The clonal selection, Calera and Pommard, adds to the wine’s character, combining structure and spice with a plush, dark fruit profile. Notes of black cherry, black currant, and a sweet-tart hint of blackberry compote layer with dried herbs, damp earth, and a sprinkle of cocoa. The tannins are more pronounced here, giving the wine enough weight and presence without an obnoxious heaviness.
