Akiko's is Freeman's top cuvée, a blend of two estate sites with about 55% Yu-Ki, 45% Gloria. It's aromatically generous in a very elegant way: wild savoury herbs, fresh violets, and forest floor. It tastes like berries, salty blood oranges, and orange peel, with a light grip across the palate that the single-vineyard wines don't quite have on their own, but it eases into a juicy, long finish. Its balance impresses from the mid-palate through to the finish.
