SETA is 100% Sauvignon Blanc, picked in small lots and basket-pressed whole-cluster before entering 300-liter Champagne-inspired oak. This is a precise, focused Sauvignon Blanc with remarkable tension and depth. White flowers and a hint of cherry wood lead into a beautifully expressive palate, layered with saline-scented minerality, lemon-lime citrus, crunchy pear, apricot, and kiwi nuances. Rich baking spices add complexity, while exceptional length and energy drive the finish. (FUTO is a 160-acre estate on the west side of Oakville, just a stone’s throw from BOND. Of this, 14 acres are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, and a small amount of Sauvignon Blanc. The Oakville site sits on an ancient seabed uplift of shale and sandstone. Futo owns another 40-acre parcel behind Chimney Rock in the Stags Leap District, which includes 14 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc. Tom Futo purchased the original 40-acre Oakford vineyard in November 2002, later expanding with an additional 120 acres in 2004. He commissioned Howard Backen to design the gravity-fed winery, which features stainless steel fermentation tanks and large upright oak casks for cellaring. Winemaker Jason Exposto has led the winemaking at FUTO since 2009. Originally from New Zealand, he trained in Austria, Bordeaux, and the Loire, working under Stéphane Derenoncourt at Pavie and La Mondotte, with additional harvests at Ausone. He also spent time with Brad Grimes, David Abreu, and Mark Aubert, who made FUTO’s early vintages before Exposto took the helm.)
