If there is one thing Atelier Melka does well, it is Sauvignon Blanc, and here, with Tom Gamble’s fruit, the Reserve bottling comes from select blocks and sees slightly longer ageing. The wine is super-focused, with incredibly expressive acid tension, bright lime and lemon zest, white flowers, almonds, and a chalky minerality driving the laser-focused, vibrant palate. It is so delicious. Gamble was inspired by the great white wines of Bordeaux and the Loire Valley early in his career, leading him to purchase the Riverbound Vineyard, a low-lying site wedged between two rivers with a uniquely cool, foggy microclimate. Today, the vineyard is farmed regeneratively and organically.
