Made from 100% Wente clone sourced from Hyde Vineyard, it is a barrel selection drawn from both the Old Wente and Young Wente sections of the vineyard. The 2023 is an eight-barrel blend. There is a striking purity and precision to the fruit and mineral character. Crystalline saline acidity is framed by a flinty mineral character and with deeply concentrated citrus fruit. The depth of flavour is impressive, yet everything remains tightly focused, driven by palpable tension. Incredibly polished and suave, it is already a joyful wine to drink, though its complexity will undoubtedly build over a decade – or two, or three – for those with the patience to cellar it.
