This own-rooted 1971 Cabernet Sauvignon is classic, old-world and stunning in its beauty. Sourced from Block 10, a dry-farmed, organic Cabernet site, sitting at over 1500 ft on the coastal side in Carmel Valley. Aromatics lift with wild herbs, a streak of pencil lead, red cherries, blue fruits, mountain scrub of eucalyptus, and California bay. Juicy blue and red fruits convey a sense of seriousness and elegance. The palate finishes salty and juicy. This is an Old-World-style wine that retains freshness and forest tones from the cool site, the focus of winemaker Ian Brand.
