This Ciminelli Vineyard Merlot bursts from the glass with pops of blue fruit and spiced plum, building across the palate with plum-skin tannins and notes of unsweetened cocoa powder, all carried through a long, graphite-laced mineral finish. The Ciminelli family collaborates with winemaker Nigel Kinsman (Wheeler Farms, Kinsman Eades, Accendo), viticulturist David Abreu, and the late, great, consulting oenologist Michel Rolland. Impensata farms two estate vineyards: Engelhard Vineyard on Franz Valley School Road in Calistoga, adjacent to Levy & McClellan, and Ciminelli Vineyard on Summit Lake Drive on Howell Mountain.
