From Engelhard a 6.4ha site in Calistoga on Franz Valley School Road. What a wonderfully full-bodied, lush, ripe, and energetic red with bright blue fruit aromatics and ripe, sweet tannins that are mocha-tinged and balanced by zesty acidity and salty minerals on the long and spicy finish. Impensata brings together a team of Napa A-listers. The Cimenelli family works with winemaker Nigel Kinsman (of Wheeler Farms, Kinsman Eades, Accendo, et al.) and viticulturist David Abreu. Michel Rolland consults. Impansata has two estate vineyards, one called Engelhard on Franz Valley School Road in Calistoga, next door to Levy & McClellan, and another called Simonelli Vineyard on Summit Lake Drive on Howell Mountain.
