La Partenza (“departure”) is considered the second wine of the estate, and serves as the entry-level red in the Impensata portfolio. Easy-going yet full-flavoured, it offers ripe, plump, sumptuous tannins wrapped around lush blue, black, and red fruits that cascade with juiciness. Layers of warm baking spice and elegant cedarwood run throughout, but above all, this is very much the "Tuesday-night" wine for the high-end Napa Cabernet collector. The blend includes a splash of Petit Verdot (3%). The Ciminelli family collaborates with winemaker Nigel Kinsman (Wheeler Farms, Kinsman Eades, Accendo), viticulturist David Abreu, and the late, great, consulting oenologist Michel Rolland. Impensata farms two estate vineyards: Engelhard Vineyard on Franz Valley School Road in Calistoga, adjacent to Levy & McClellan, and Ciminelli Vineyard on Summit Lake Drive on Howell Mountain.
