The name Domaine des Chirats translates roughly to a domain with a pile of rocks, and a play on the Rockpile Vineyard name. This is fabulously layered with such lovely perfumed rose and violets, cherry and blackberry fruit, great energy on the palate, with good tension and generosity of fruit, laced with wet slate notes through the long, full-bodied and velvety finish. Aged up to 18 months in 30% new French oak with one third whole cluster.
