Tasting the winery’s West Wall and East Elevation Cabernets side by side offers a fascinating study in terroir. The West Wall Cabernet Sauvignon originates from terraces exposed to the warmer afternoon sun, while the East Elevation comes from vines planted on terraces bathed in gentle morning light. The West Wall reveals a darker, more brooding personality, with black fruit, scorched herbs, and robust tannins that gather strength on the full-bodied finish. The East Elevation, by contrast, shows a wonderfully pure and cool expression of fruit–soft-textured, with black and blue tones. Both are outstanding in 2023 and stand among my favourites of the Jericho Canyon wines I tasted.
