For anyone who has ever had a nearly decade-aged Chardonnay from California, if it has held up nicely courtesy of good underlying acidity, it turns out like this: candied and baked citrus and orchard fruit, like a caramel apple tart, alongside dried apricot, charred pineapple, and overripe peach, all wrapped around a super-salty mineral core. Saline acidity drives the long finish, accented by vanilla and toasted almond notes. Downright delicious if you catch it in the pocket.
