Even with the challenges of the 2003 vintage, this wine, at 23 years of bottle age, shows no signs of any trouble. It is fresh, inviting, and savoury, with black truffle, loamy earth, red and black fruit character, spearmint, and sage, while currant fruit emerges alongside wonderful black tea tannins with a fine granularity. Dark loamy earth, chocolate, scorched oak, and anise carry through the long and attractive finish. Tasted in early 2026.
