The Bohan Graveyard block has once again impressed me. This single block, planted in 1988 at 1,500 feet, has a very different soil composition from the rest of the Bohan vineyard: rocky sandstone shot through with quartz, quite rare in the Sonoma Coast. The 2024 vintage shows more density than usual for this wine, yet the freshness holds, with tart, bright fruit running straight through it. It's the one Bohan-related wine Jamie Kutch destems, since the fruit from this block can come in too tannic and hard to handle with too much whole-bunch. The wine carries a unique, savoury and earthy yet lifted floral quality on the nose, with blood orange and a juicy, pomegranate-like brightness underneath. The tannins are polished and finely grainy. There's a really nice spicy, mineral-like finish that I find very pleasant on coastal Pinots. Just four barrels, a hundred cases made.
